Ruagra 100 tablets

 A survey of on the recreational use and awareness of Ruagra 100 tablets (sildenafil citrate) was carried out in July and September 1998 in seven London gay clubs. Of the 229 Homosexual and Bisexual men and women surveyed 53% (n=112) were aware of the medical contra-indications of taking Ruagra 100 tablets, but only 15% (n=28) were aware of the contra-indications of using Ruagra 100 tablets with Amyl Nitrate (poppers). Many 42% would want to obtain Ruagra 100 tablets through their doctors while 22% would obtain it through the internet or other private sources. Of those surveyed 43% of respondents said they may take it and 2% (n=5) had taken Ruagra 100 tablets. Of these three had taken it with other drugs including Poppers. All had obtained Ruagra 100 tablets through friends or the internet. Amongst the effects were very prolonged erections (up to 24 hours).

This survey indicates that Ruagra 100 tablets may be used as a recreational drug amongst those not suffering from erectile dysfunctions. It may be combined with other sexual enhancers such as Amyl Nitrate. Amyl Nitrate (Poppers) are a popular substance for sexual enhancement particularly amongst gay men. From these results it seems that Ruagra 100 tablets will also be popular in the gay community. The dangers of combining Ruagra 100 tablets and Poppers needs to be publicised to those most likely to do so.

The Medicines and Healthcare Regulatory Agency confirmed that sildenafil remains a prescription only drug and is not available over the counter—instead Tesco has been granted permission to dispense the treatment under a special licence called a patient group direction.
